On April 26, 2017, the Mesquite Nevada Stake held a recognition dinner and program for youth in the stake that had accomplished the requirements for the Young Women Recognition and Duty to God awards. 17 Young Women and 5 Young Men were recognized by the Stake Young Men/Young Women Presidencies. The youth along with some young women leaders who earned their Young Woman Recognition Awards were invited to attend a dinner along with their parents to recognize and celebrate their efforts in earning their Duty to God and Young Womanhood Recognition Awards. Following the dinner, the youth participated in a program, to which all young men and young women were invited to attend. Youth spoke on their opportunities to earn their awards at how earning their awards will keep them "Anchored to Christ", the theme for the evening.
To earn the award the women had to accomplish such goals as attending church meetings and seminary regularly, reading the Book of Mormon, recording her testimony, living the standards in For the Strength of Youth, completing a ten-hour project in each of the YW values (Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Good Works, Integrity and Virtue), and completing a required value experience in each of those same areas.
Some young women were also recognized for completing work after achieving the above award. An Honor Bee is awarded to those that read the Book of Mormon again and complete an additional 40 hours of service.
The Young Men’s Duty to God award involves the completion of the required activities in areas such as strengthening their testimonies and relationship with God, learning and fulfilling their priesthood duties and applying the standards from For the Strength of Youth.
Aleta Ruth was asked to prepare the program, along with a musical number sung by the honorees that evening. Kim Thurston created a video that was also viewed that evening. The video included testimonies from each youth on how the programs anchor them to Christ. Each youth also received a photo of themselves.
Following the program refreshments were served for all who attended.

“It is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall”
