Eagle John Pollock

John Pollock, son of Vern and Bonnie Pollock, received his Eagle Scout Award at a ceremony on March 8,2015. John organized the annual food drive to benefit the Salvation Army Food Bank and the Community Food Banks in Mesquite and Beaver Dam. He is a member of Venture Crew 41 sponsored by the Bunkerville 1st ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. John earned a total of 31 merit badges; 21 merit badges are required and he is eligible to receive 2 palms for the other 10 merit badges. John is a junior at Virgin Valley High School and a member of the soccer team. Craig Haderlie gave John the Eagle Charge, " Act so as to guide other scouts along the trail and be an example in your community. You have a torch to carry now to hold up the principles of honor and service. You have an obligation to represent the rank of of Eagle Scouts." Mr. Haderlie went on to charge John to "make you training, example and influence count strongly for better citizenship in your troop and community and your contacts with other people." John's mother pinned the Eagle Badge on her son and John then presented pins of appreciation to his parents. He presented the mentor pin to his father for his encouragement and help in reaching this goal of Eagle Scout. John was awarded an engraved pocket knife with the word "Eagle Scout" engraved on it
